New Controversy in Pakistan !

When drone killed Mehsood !

People love to turn their ears on controversies because it is the only thing which we can sell easily. When I was a boy, someone told me, everything in this world fell in two categories; right or wrong. Now I am an adult, but still putting harsh topics in childish categories.

Most things in the world aren't wholly wrong or wholly right. It’s our perception about issues which make anything good or bad. When I was a child, I thought God was the only one who saw good and wrong; black and white. Now I am not a child, I can realize that God is the God who can see the black, white and the grey, too.

Drone attacks killed TTP leader; new tax net for people; Malala became heroine; parliament resolutions for Pakistan safety. All these issues have some good and bad points. Drone attack killed TTP leader but damage Pakistan sovereignty, raised several issues and security concerns. Jamat-e-Islami (JI) gave Mr. Hakeemullah a degree of martyr after his killing in drone attack; other politicians condemned it. I know, only God has the authority to recognize people rightly; but was surprised from statement. May be JI has some links with god. Hold down, don’t you think they are just diversifying the issue. Nobody raised the issue of Pakistan’s Sovereignty.

What’s wrong in it if terrorists killed 35000+ innocent people in Pakistan? What’s wrong in it if drone killed few more thousand innocents? Both are damaging Pakistan national sovereignty. I have learned something interesting about politics. In politics, the reaction to a controversy is more enlightening and important than the details of allegations themselves. Don’t you agree? Probably yes. You may have your own point of view. I am not forcing you to agree with.

When I was a child, my teacher usually told me, what you need to learn is the difference between right and wrong in different areas of life. And once you learn the difference, you must always choose the right. Many mouth, thousand words, numerous concepts. Everyone seems to be right in the world of news. I want to pick the good points about this news but what it will be? I am still confused. Is it a new zone of war or another Security concern?

In the war of terror, Pakistanis think of role of the US is generally negative. Any incidents of terrorism cause anger against the terrorist organizations and also create frustration with the United States. According to Pew Global Polls only 17% of Pakistanis have a positive view of the US and only 11% see it as a useful partner in the War on Terror.

Government officials are of view point that Pakistan is fighting war for its survival. They are arresting terrorists in major cities; busy in fighting militants in FATA; bombardment in Taliban hideouts. USA killed several terrorist in drone attacks. Nek Muhammad was killed in 2004, Baitullah Mehsud in 2009; Maulvi Nazeer and Wali-ur-Rehman in 2013. Nobody declared them Shaheed (martyr) at that time. When Hakeem ullah Mehsood tried to negotiate government then suddenly drone comes in and killed Mehsood. Few politicians supposed this act as danger for Pakistan survival. After one day of his death. New controversy starts in Pakistan’s media channels. This controversy was on calling Mehsood a Dog or a Martyr? They forgot to highlight sovereignty of Pakistan. Thanks to JI and JUI (f) for diversifying the issue.

Pakistan civil societies view USA as unfaithful ally. I am not going to put all things in one category. In short, to me, when people become ignorant and corrupt; they are incapable of exercising their sovereignty and this is true for Pakistan. I am against killings. I believe in judiciary and not in extra judicial murders.

RANN

Film Review: RANN movie !

The film is just the film and nothing else. In the climax of Rann, Amitabh Bachchan, a senior respected journalist delivers a news item about the responsibility of media. Earlier on in the same film, he agreed to air anonymously received sting-operation footage that implicates the country's Prime Minister for his involvement in Muzafarnagar riots. How a senior respected journalist like him forgot the basic principal of verifying the source of news and its authenticity. What do you think?

                        

Rann is ill-researched film. Director tried to expose the links of political parties and television channels but he failed to do. Bachchan's character Malik is an ethical, principled channel Indian 24 head who's losing the TRP . His competitor headlines 24/7 channel believes in packaging news entertainingly. Malik sons’ gets advise from his industrialist brother-in-law about making profits. He makes a discreet deal with a corrupt politician to air a fake sting framing the Prime Minister in exchange for enough money to save his channel and to set up few more.

The sting footage aired on so-called respected news channel and story read by ethical and unsuspecting journalist. Footage takes down the PM and helps the corrupt politician to get the primer ship. But before long an earnest reporter Purab unearths the truth. He approaches the boss with the information and took another sting operation; Malik Sr eventually exposes everyone involved in the scandal.

Rann is a boring film and professionals already knew the predictable climax. This film may somewhat portrays Hindi news journalism and concept of Yellow journalism and sting journalism in India. Varma uses crazy camera moves; tight close ups and moving frames, trying to create the drama in the background music that script fails to deliever.

Mr Malik’s son commits suicide and after this Malik handover channel to Purab. Film tries to potray good relations between Muslim and Hindus. But it is out of context.

Performances ; : Everyone puts up an impressive performance. Amitabh Bachchan's performance is no doubt very good.  He lifts other characters. Riteish successfully tries a make-over as a serious journalist who believes the mike is mightier than the sword. Paresh Rawal fits the image of a corrupt politician. Sudeep grabs attention, he looks senior journalist.

Story: it is narrated well but anyone can judge the climax, and role of sting operations in media. It’s not new like the film in 1976.

Dialogue: Amitabh Bachchan's speech in the climax about pure true ethical journalism is like a cumin seed in a camel's mouth.

Music: didn’t find any great song, which we as a people love to listen again .

Cinematography:  director uses his camera stylishly to create an impressive canvas.

Visuals: Fails to create a great visionary newsroom. All journalist and researchers are in relaxing moods.

MEDIA and Victims !!!

We love to believe in anything.  Young students try to believe in older authors, constituents try to believe in Senate members, countries try to believe in statesmen, people believe in media and media believe in so called sources, politicians, but in general they can't.

I saw a new word “Facebook Journalist” on new media. These types of journalist are busy in sharing each and everything on their pages. No matter is it necessary or not. No matter it’s good or bad. Few channels hire these journalists as their primary source. You want to get city updates, ok please join Bla blaww pages.

I know, too many voices are harmful for ordinary man to understand their own basic problems; numerous angles won’t strengthen the news but they destroy its freshness and leads to illogical conclusions. So, who is going to watch the watchmen? Who is going to control the content?

To ordinary man, news is something new. To him, no news is good news and for media person, good news is not news at all. I am not lying, its general perception of media personnel. Reporters are busy in gathering ordinary events and then sell it for big prices. Yes, sometimes they are trading emotions. What’s new? Karachi Killings? Bomb blasts? Balochistan matters? What’s new in market? Ah… nothing.

Blast in Peshawar kill 50, Traffic accident kills 17 people in TB singh; Badin 12000 flood victims are waiting for rescue. We are just calculating the casualties instead of highlighting issues and causes.

As far as reporters in Pakistan are concerned, they are still in state of confusion. They failed to understand the basic difference between Media Law and ethics. I am not too sure, but for aught I know, there is a small line  between LAW and ETHICS. If you did a crime, law calls you guilty; but as far as ethics is concerned, even you think of crime or think to violate the rights of others, YOU ARE A CRIMINAL.

It’s practice by few regional channels to criticize anyone on the basis of their so called reliable sources. In Pakistan, there are SPJ, CPNE, and APNS code of conducts; PEMRA rules and guidelines are there. Article 19 in constitution regarding freedom of expression is there. Organization own code of conducts are there. But who does care it? After 10 years of continuous breaking on electronic media. Sorry to say, we still leave in teen age. Watchmen is free but use their powers to generate revenues only.

بیٹیوں کے قاتل !!!

دور جہالت کی عجیب روایات تھیں۔۔۔ بچی پیدا ہوجائے تو باپ کی افسردہ نگاہیں، مرجھایا ہوا چہرہ اور بوجھل قدم ۔۔ اسکے غم کا ذکر کرتے۔۔۔ باپ ساتھیوں سے نظریں چراتا۔۔۔ منہ چھپائے پھرتا تھا۔۔۔ جب تھوڑی دیر بعد ہواس قابو میں آتے تو سوچتا ۔۔۔ کیوں نہ ماتھے کے کلنگ کو ہمیشہ کے لیے خاموش کردیا جائے۔۔۔ قاتل بننے کے ڈر سے قدم ٹھہر بھی جاتے تھے۔۔۔ معاشرے سے چھپاکر اپنی بچی کو پالنے کی کوشش کرتا تو پانچ سال سے زیادہ گھر میں نہیں رکھ سکتا تھا۔۔۔

دور جہالت تھا۔۔۔ جہاں بیٹیاں ہونا بھی جرم تھا۔۔۔ صنف نازک اپنی ہی زندگی سے محروم تھی۔۔۔ یہ اسلام سے پہلے کا دور تھا۔۔۔ جہاں سنگ دلانہ رواج نے کبھی صنف نازک کو جینے نہیں دیا۔۔۔ موت کے کنویں میں لڑکیوں کو ابدی نیند سلادیا جاتا تھا۔۔ مگر کیا آج لڑکیوں کو زندگی جینے کا یا پھر زندہ رہنے کا حق مل گیا۔۔۔ ؟

کہتے ہیں بیٹیاں انمول تحفہ ہوتی ہیں۔۔۔ لیکن کیا کریں اس بدقسمت معاشرے کا جہاں قسمت کے مارے والدین نے چھ پریوں کو دس اور گیارہ ستمبر کے دن ڈائن کہہ کر اپنے سے دور کردیاہو۔۔۔ کچھ نے معاشی حالات کا رونا رویا تو کسی نے صنف نازک کوذلت سمجھ کر دریا راوی کے سپرد کردیا۔۔۔

بیٹی قدرت کی انمول نعمت ،،،، راحتِ جان ۔۔۔ احساس کا دوسرا نام ۔۔۔ لیکن لاہور کا باسی ان سب باتوں کو سمجھنے سے کوسوں دور۔۔۔ رکشہ ڈرائیور نے بیٹا نہ ہونے پر غصہ میں اپنی ڈیڑھ سالہ بچی زینب کو دریائے راوی میں پھینک کر قتل کردیا۔۔۔ پولیس نے ماں کی درخواست پر قاتل باپ کو گرفتار کرکے مقدمہ درج کرلیا۔۔۔ ملزم کو شرم پھر بھی نہیں آئی۔

کراچی میں بھی ایسا ہی کچھ واقعہ ہوا۔۔۔ جہاں باپ نے تین بچیوں کو تو نہیں مارا لیکن انکا مستقبل ضرور قتل کردیا۔۔۔ کراچی کی تین معصوم بچیاں بے یارومددگار کھارادر کے بازار میں ایک راہگیر کو رُلتی ہوئی ملیں۔۔۔ پہلےتو وہ انہیں پولیس اسٹیشن لے آیا جب وہاں کسی نے دھیان نہ دیا تو ایدھی سینٹر چھوڑ گیا۔۔۔۔۔  ماں باپ سے دور ہونے والی بچیاں اس قدر سہمی ہوئی تھیں کہ یہ بھی نہ بتاسکیں کہ گھر سے کس کے ساتھ نکلی تھیں۔۔

شیخوپورہ میں بھی ایسا ہی کچھ ہوا۔۔۔ جہاں باپ اپنی دو نومولود لڑکیوں کو سڑک کنارے چھوڑ کر فرار ہوگیا۔۔ پرانا شہر سے ملنے والی دو بچیاں چار دن پہلے ہی پیدا ہوئی ہیں۔۔۔ ڈسٹرکٹ ہیڈکوارٹر اسپتال میں بچیوں کی زندگی بچالی گئی لیکن مستقبل اب بھی داؤ پر ہے۔

ادھرفیصل آباد میں بھی دو برس کی معصوم بچی وقت کی ستم ظریفی کا شکار ہو گئی۔۔
غیروں سے کیا گلہ جب اپنے ہی ساتھ چھوڑ دیں۔  خاتون کھرڑیوانوالہ کے قریب بس میں اپنی بچی چھوڑ گئی۔

مختلف شہروں میں بیٹیاں چھوڑ کر فرار ہونے والے والدین یہ بھول گئے ۔۔۔ کہ اب ان کےلیے جنت کا درازہ کون کھولے گا۔۔۔  بیٹیاں خوبصورت ہوتی ہیں ۔۔۔ دل کے زخم مٹانے کو۔۔۔ آنگن میں اتری بوندوں کی طرح ہوتی ہیں۔۔۔ بیٹیاں پھولوں کی طرح ہوتی ہیں۔۔۔ اللہ سے دعا ہے کہ وہ مسلمانوں کو دین اسلام کی سمجھ اور عمل کی توفیق عطا کرے۔۔۔

نیا فرقہ ۔۔۔۔

فرقہ کا لفظ فرق سے بنا ہے جس کے معنی مختلف یا الگ کرنے یا تمیز کرنے کے ہوتے ہیں ۔۔۔ مگر جب بات مذہب کی ہو تو اس سے مراد اختلاف ، قطع یا منحرف کی لی جاتی ہے یعنی کسی ایک مذہب میں اسکے ماننے والوں میں ایسے گروہ کا واقع ہونا کہ جن میں آپس میں چند امور یا ارکان یا خیالات میں اختلاف پایا جاتا ہو اور وہ ایک دوسرے سے انحراف رکھتے ہوں ۔۔۔ اس مذہب کے فرقے کہلاتے ہیں۔۔۔

میرے خیال میں اسلام میں فرقہ پرستی کا کوئی تصور نہیں ۔۔۔ آل عمران میں خدا نے لکھا ہے اور تم سب مل کر اللہ کی رسی کو مضبوطی سے تھام لو اور تفرقہ مت ڈالو۔۔۔ اجتماعی وحدت کو اللہ کی تائید حاصل ہوتی ہے۔۔ جو کوئی جماعت سے جدا ہو گا وہ دوزخ میں جا گرے گا۔۔۔

حضرت عبداللہ بن عمرو بن العاص رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ ایک دن میں دوپہر کے وقت رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے دو آدمیوں کی آواز سنی جو کسی آیت کی نسبت آپس میں اختلاف کر رہے تھے۔ رسول اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم پاس آئے ۔۔۔  آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے چہرہ ء مبارک پر غصّہ کے آثار ظاہر تھے۔ آپ نے فرمایا: بات یہی ہے کہ تم سے پہلے لوگ کتاب اللہ میں اختلاف کرنے ہی کے سبب ہلاک ہو گئے۔

                         

چار دوست گفتگو کررہے تھے۔۔۔ موضوع وہی تھا۔۔۔ فرقہ ورستی ۔۔۔ کون سا فرقہ درست ؟ سب اپنے اپنے محدود علم سے لامحدود موضوع کو سمجھنے کی کوشش کررہے تھے۔۔۔ پر میرے خیال میں کسی ایک یا دو شخص کی رائے کو پوری جماعت پر منطبق نہیں کیا جا سکتا۔۔۔ کیونکہ ہم میں سے کوئی جید عالم نہیں تھا نہ کسی مسلک پر کوئی گرفت رکھتا تھا۔۔۔  پر ذرا ٹھہریے کیا جو فرقے بنے ہیں وہ جید عالموں نے بنائے ہیں ؟

میرے خیال میں جب قرآن کی تعلیمات سے لاپرواہی (دانستہ یا نادانستہ) کی گئی اور سیاسی مقاصد کو حاصل کرنے کی خاطر اسلام کے نام کو استعمال کیا جانے لگا تو پھر نئے چھوٹے بڑے متعدد فرقے آئے دن نکلتے رہے۔ ایسا سب کچھ قرآن میں واضح طور منع کیے جانے کے باوجود کیا جاتا رہا۔

اسلام میں اب کتنے فرقے ہوچکے ہیں ۔۔۔ کسی کو کچھ نہیں معلوم ۔۔۔ دین اسلام سے خارج ہوجانے والے اپنے آپ کو دو چار فرقوں میں بانٹنے کے بہانوں میں لگے ہیں۔۔۔ سب کے سب عقلمند ہیں۔۔۔ لیکن کسی کو ان بے چارے مسلمانوں کا خیال نہیں آتا جو دن رات محنت کرتا۔۔۔ اللہ اوررسول کی باتوں کو مانتا اور کسی کی دل آزاری نہیں کرتا۔۔۔ پھر بھی دھماکے کا نشانہ بن جاتا ہے ؟ غریب تو پستا ہے اور اگر وہ مسلمان ہو تو اس کی کون سنتا ہے ؟؟ اتنے فرقے بن گئے تو کیا انکا بھی فرقہ بنادیا جائے ؟
